The Chris Jones Memorial Auction was a resounding
success at Brands Hatch and the total figure raised over the two
evenings came to £33,136.62. This has played a huge part in the total
figure, which stands at an estimated £70,595.56 and the money is still
coming in through various sources and generous parties.
The Auctions were incredible and took the staff
involved in the CJMF by surprise, we are all delighted with the figure
that was raised. Special thanks must go to all the riders, companies
and everyone who donated items and purchased them, they made the event
truly special.
British Superbike Race Director Stuart Higgs must
get a special mention for his donation of three very special lots,
each raising £2500. John McGuinness was blown away when his TT Medal
and also the boots he set the fastest lap in went for an amazing
£2500. James Ellison's leathers, boots and helmet that he wore at the
British Moto GP and Goodwood reached £2225. Toby Moody collected a
number of items from the GP Paddock which raised a figure of £3135 -
thanks to all, greatly appreciated.
Leon Haslam, Johnny Rea, Eugene Laverty, John
McGuinness, Glen Richards, Peter Hickman, John Reynolds, Tom Grant,
Steve Plater, James Haydon, Dean and James Ellison must also get
thanks for making an appearance over the weekend to sell their
relevant items. We appreciate the time the riders spent up at the
Auction and it also proved a huge success with the crowd as they got
to meet their race heroes close up. TT Legend John McGuinness gained
the biggest cheer over the weekend and we would like to thank him for
donating his TT medal as we know this item is very close to his heart.
Nino (www.ngroadracing.org)
and the Marshalls around the circuit have done a fantastic job at
various meetings over the year and raised £8600 for the CJ Fund.
Putoline's Steve Brookes completed the Great North Run whilst we were
at Brands and raised a brilliant £2000 for the CJ Fund.
One of the next major CJ Events is World Superbike
Star, James Toseland and his band Crash playing at Belvedere Park
Club, Burton-on-Trent on Thursday 2nd November, the second
Thursday of NEC Bike Show in Birmingham. See the leaflet attached,
